Every dog walk brings a new drama as the lives of this unlikely collection of people and their dogs become intertwined.

When Maggi found herself not only talking to her cupboards but listening to their replies she decided she needed some company in the form of a mongrel from the dog’s home. She fits in dog-walking between shifts stacking supermarket shelves to save up and visit her family in Australia, although she doesn’t want to admit to anyone that she’s terrified to fly.

Meanwhile long-suffering Angela, who filled the gap left by her children with a poodle named Mitzi, gets a Christmas shock, which turns into a new start in disguise.
